About

Krista Deda

Krista Deda, a Canadian visual artist, draws inspiration from her upbringing immersed in the fine arts, encompassed by both musical and visual art. Her creative journey is a testament to the transformative power of art, serving as a conduit for navigating societal shifts and personal growth.

With a focus on abstract, semi-abstract, and magical realist works, Krista's work reflects her multifaceted approach to expression. Abstract collections serve as a platform for uninhibited exploration, where emotion and desire find voice through vibrant colors and dynamic compositions. Conversely, her magical realist paintings transport viewers to realms where reality intertwines with fantasy, blurring the boundaries between the tangible and the ethereal.

For Krista, art is more than mere representation—it's a means of transcendence, offering solace and sanctuary amidst the chaos of existence. Through her creations, she invites audiences to immerse themselves in alternate realities, each brushstroke an invitation to embrace individual interpretation and imagination.Beyond her canvas, Krista's artistic endeavors extend to the realm of photography, where she has experimented with both digital and black & white mediums. This duality of expression enriches her practice, infusing her work with depth and dimension.

Currently dividing her time between Toronto and London, Krista remains deeply engaged in her artistic pursuits and projects. Possessing a BA in Fine Arts complemented by a background in Art History, as well as a BEd from York University, she continues to push the boundaries of her creativity while honoring the rich tapestry of artistic tradition.

Creating has always been and will continue to be an atmosphere of escape from reality, a nepenthe; finding herself in a different perspective. Krista Deda invites audiences on a journey of introspection and wonder, where the boundaries of reality are as fluid as the hues on her palette.
